  1. 2560x1440 works in Windows 10, 1 display only.

  2. I have dual boot at this pc, initially was at lower resolution in ubuntu 18.
Updated to 20.04, the bios displays in small fonts, and i was able to set 2560x1440 after login to 20.04 for the 1st time.
Started browsing web, was using mouse scroll wheel, the screen started flicking, then screen resets to 1920x1080.
No matter how I try, cannot go back 20 2560x1440, it's not listed in the resolution options any more.

Pls advice, thx !

  • 2560x1440 works fine for me. Please show us the output of `xrandr`. You might add a custom resolution if you're sure that your display can handle it: See [How do I set a custom resolution?](https://askubuntu.com/a/377944/631600) – pLumo May 04 '21 at 06:18

  • @pLumo sorry the output is messed up in the webpage. – user3552178 May 04 '21 at 22:57
  • Seems after reboot, it says it will try 2560x1440, most of the time it'll success. Sometimes if you click too fast, e.g. open several windows, it'll downgrade to 1920. So i try logout or reboot. Hope you guys have a better way. – user3552178 May 13 '21 at 00:10
  • i take back what i said above, it's random, sometime 2560 works after reboot, but not always. i cannot find the pattern yet. All i know is, if you open windows too fast, screen will reset to 1920. – user3552178 May 13 '21 at 00:36
