I upgraded from 20.04 to 22.04.

For a few days now I have tried to figure out how to allow users to install software from SnapStore/Ubuntu Software. When a user tries to install an app for example VLC it shows a pop-up that they need permission. No pop-up to give a password shows.

It works when I install in the terminal as sudo of course.

I searched and see that some people have added Polkit policy. Some topics says that Canonical have it on milestone but it doesn't work.

Maybe someone has some work around? Maybe something changed on 22.04 version? I don't want to add another user sudo rule only to install snap apps (this is a big rule).

If we have a GUI store for user-friendly apps, this should be possible to install application for user. Of course using apt/aptitude should still require root permission.

This answer gives more rights then we want to give. How can I set the Software Center to install software for non-root users?
