I'm trying to get internet from my laptop hotspot. The problem is somewhat unbelievably stupid. There are 3 cases:

  1. I set security mode to WPA/WPA2 and set password. Then trying to authenticate, and... there's no any error. The connection status in my phone is just set to "saved"
  2. I set no security and simply connect via WiFi. The connection status is "no internet"
  3. I connect via QR code, and unexpectedly ... it connects successfully.

I checked data in qr code via qr code scanner and it doesn't contain any data that I can't see when I connect to WiFi.

I tried googling and it gave me nothing. I don't know why qr code authentication works and manual doesn't even when there's no any security.

P.S.: I ask it cause I gotta connect to WiFi from my VR headset and unfortunatelly it doesn't have a feature to connect to WiFi via QR code.

    What is the the string from the QR code? All it really does is auto-fill the three basic parameters to connect. Usually something like `WIFI:T:WPA;S:mynetwork;P:mypass;;`. Can be something unlikely like your keyboard puts a different character in than the QR code does – Cpt.Whale Sep 16 '22 at 18:49
