So I work for a medium sized company running a FreePBX/Asterisk PBX server on-prem with a fleet of mostly Cisco 7960 and Aastra 480i deskphones. Right now, our Asterisk server also runs a TFTP service for distributing the config files to the phones. I am trying to implement additional features that are not currently configured (namely a directory list of internal extensions so that my users don't have to refer to a file on their computer to see a list of everyone's extension).

I cannot for the life of me find a comprehensive list of all the parameters you can set in the /tftp boot config files for either the Cisco 7960 or the Aastra phones. Furthermore I'm not sure if there are a large number of universal parameters that all SIP phones use, or whether these parameters are specific to each and every make and model of phone? Does anyone know where I can find such lists? The manuals that I can find online only seem to list a very small subset of the available parameters.

My hope is that there is some way to serve a directory list through the TFTP server, but otherwise it seems that the primary (perhaps only) way to configure a directory list on both the Cisco and the Aastra is by serving a directory list file on an http server.

Unfortunately, I'm also having an incredibly hard time finding information on how to configure a directory list for each of these phone models. The standard way to configure a directory on the Cisco 7960 is to create an XML file, and set the "directories_url" parameter to point to the XML file being served on an HTTP server (however I cannot find information on how to create/format such an XML file). As for the Aastra phone, I found this forum post which seems to suggest that the Aastra phones use a .htm file instead of xml, and that you have to point the "xml application URI" parameter to the htm file being served over http, similar to the Cisco. Again, I cannot find information on how to create such an htm file for the Aastras.

Thank-you in advance for anyone that can provide me any help or guidance.
