So suppose I have a smart things hub set up with 5 devices and 1 automation. The 5 devices are all connected locally to the hub, but the automation is on the cloud.
According to other superusers, a device can only operate locally if other things that use it as a dependency are also local. In this case, the automation is requires those 5 devices and is not local.
If that is the case, consider this scenario:
1.) I lose an internet connection 2.) I want to still control the 5 devices and I don't really care if the automation works.
Will I still be able to control those devices locally, or will the automation dependency forcefully keep them connected and waiting for a handshake with the cloud to operate them?
I wish I could link the discussions that I have read but most of those posts have been taken down. Samsung documentation is very difficult to navigate through.
Now as for why I am asking this question without just trying it out for myself?
I have a limited budget to design a smart home. I can't experiment with an entire ecosystem in hopes of getting it to work. Shipping in my country is a pain because these devices are either out of stock or take many weeks to deliver. If anyone has tested it out or knows of any resource I can read up on, that would be well appreciated.
