so here is what i did (ubuntu x64 20.10)

sudo apt install gnome-shell-extensions-*

and then also removed them(#instant-regret)

sudo apt remove gnome-shell-extensions-*

#here i actually was curious about things and just went there to checkout

and then logged into the flashback(gnome 2 after log-out)

and then classic ubuntu

and then wayland

and then back to normal

i saw that tweak tool is gone, i reinstalled opened extensions and then i saw this NOT ONLY THAT i somehow ended up stuck with the old NOTIFICATIONS (similar to those in windows 7 balloons) all the good old extensions, lol , now how do i get rid of them? [enter image description here]

Does this answer your question? [How to remove GNOME Shell from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to install other desktop environment from scratch?](https://askubuntu.com/questions/1233025/how-to-remove-gnome-shell-from-ubuntu-20-04-lts-to-install-other-desktop-environ) – N0rbert Apr 19 '21 at 07:07

FYI: You can re-install without touching user data, using *something-else*, select your existing partitions and do **not** format. It'll note your packages, erase system directories, install new system, attempt to add back your additional (added post-install) packages without touching any user settings/files unless you formatted, then ask to reboot... naturally backup first (*but we all have backups of anything that matters anyway*) – guiverc Apr 19 '21 at 07:21

"know how to backup and restore , all firefox data" the simplest way is to create a Firefox account but all your Firefox profiles are held in hidden files which you can access. – graham Apr 19 '21 at 07:34
  • reinstalled , ubuntu , everything is fine now, thanks, ,,firefox's sync is not good , it doesnt sync the search engines , and i hate the download/save prompt ,,,i have lost my files many times bcz it defaults to "open with" and then deletes the downloaded files,,,,and even recuva ,,doesnt find anything after that. anyways, thnx – Siddharth Apr 20 '21 at 08:33
