So, i am trying to find a good linux distro that is similar to windows* (my main os) and it has to be lightweight. I will run the distro on my 2GB RAm, Core 2 Duo Late 2009 MacBook. Does someone please have a suggestion of a lightweight distro similar to windows. I will be thankful if i recieve an awnser.

*with many google searches i think kubuntu is great, but i don't think it will run

PS: sorry for bad english

You can test it by running a “Live Session”. Make a bootable USB, boot with it, and see if everything works well enough. If you’re satisfied, run the “Install Kubuntu” application that’s on the desktop – matigo Jun 07 '21 at 00:30

KDE is great but it's not lightweight. As @matigo suggested, you can "test drive" any version of Ubuntu by booting installation media into a live session. Xubuntu and Lubuntu use lighter desktop environments, so you might give those a try as well. Keep in mind that your system performance could be slightly different when you actually install the OS. (Typically an installed system performs a little bit better than a live session using the same hardware) – Nmath Jun 07 '21 at 00:37
  • Only Ubuntu and official flavors of Ubuntu (https://ubuntu.com/download/flavours) are on-topic here, refer to https://askubuntu.com/help/on-topic... all of which are built on the same base; the difference is mainly the desktop (GUI). I wouldn't expect recommendations for other off-topic systems here. I'm using a 2009 dell desktop here in reply; but the closest device I use in QA-testing to yours is a `lenovo thinkpad sl510 (c2d-t6570, 2gb ram, i915)` and it runs all... though the machine itself is **not** all I'd use to decide which will perform best (esp. with only 2GB of RAM). – guiverc Jun 07 '21 at 00:54
