  • Did you try "lsusb"? – imposter Jul 03 '21 at 11:00
  • You can analyze the problem according to [this link](https://askubuntu.com/questions/144852/cant-format-my-usb-drive-i-have-already-tried-with-mkdosfs-and-gparted/933035#933035), and if you are lucky, find a solution. – sudodus Jul 03 '21 at 13:11
  • For the sake of profit they are making pendrives cheaper and less reliable nowadays. Ten years ago some pendrives were good for 1000000 writes, others were only good for 10000 writes, (which was years of use). Now many pendrives are only good for 500 writes or less. I am still using the first two 4GB pendrives I bought 14 years ago, on a daily basis. other 64GB drives I bought earlier this year have died already. – C.S.Cameron Jul 04 '21 at 04:10
  • No , i didn't try Isusb. I am new in linux. Can you shade some light around Isusb. – hridoy biswas Jul 04 '21 at 04:11
  • `lsusb`, 'list usb devices', is one of the tools, that are recommended in the [link](https://askubuntu.com/questions/144852/cant-format-my-usb-drive-i-have-already-tried-with-mkdosfs-and-gparted/933035#933035) of my previous comment. Run it from a terminal window. First use it 'as is' without parameters, then in verbose mode, `lsusb -v` and try to identify the problematic drive: Is is recognized at all? If recognized, try with `lsblk -f` etc. – sudodus Jul 04 '21 at 12:37
  • if you have another USB slot, then try inserting the pendrive there. You may have a damaged port. – mondotofu Jul 04 '21 at 18:13
