While using the application "Disks" I am trying to format a USB and make a new partition on it. I am successfully able to format the drive but not make a new partition when i click the + sign. It shows an error. enter image description here

And when i am selecting the erase option while creating a new partition with the + sign It is showing this= enter image description here

Try [mkusb](https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb) for this purpose. Once installed from the PPA, it is easy because there is a menu option for it "restore to a Standard storage device". If mkusb fails, there is probably a hardware error (something wrong with the USB pendrive, or if you are lucky, some confusion, that you can fix). See [this link](https://askubuntu.com/questions/144852/cant-format-my-usb-drive-i-have-already-tried-with-mkdosfs-and-gparted/933035#933035) if that happens. – sudodus Sep 14 '21 at 16:38

What are you trying to do? Make an install media? Make a data stick that is readable in both Windows and Ubuntu?... We can only guess. – ubfan1 Sep 14 '21 at 17:24
