I have installed Ubuntu 22.04 in WD external hard drive of capacity 1TB. Installation was successful, but problem is created while booting from external hard drive. While booting an error message is coming like " attempt to read outside hd0, entering rescue mode, Grab rescue>" and the screen stuck here. This message is coming and the external hard drive installed with ubuntu 22.04 is not getting accessed. How to solve the problem. Is it external USB hard disk related issue. How to solve it to use ubuntu installed in the external hard drive.

1UEFI or BIOS install? If UEFI, you have to partition in advance & include an ESP - efi system partition. Ubiquity installs only installs grub's boot loader files to first drive. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1396379 & https://askubuntu.com/questions/16988/how-do-i-install-ubuntu-to-a-usb-key-without-using-startup-disk-creator & https://askubuntu.com/questions/1296065/dual-booting-w10-ubuntu-with-2-separate-ssds-in-uefi-mode also post this above in your question: `sudo fdisk -lu` – oldfred Sep 11 '22 at 22:01
