I installed ubuntu in safe graphics mode because I kept getting Input signal out of range error, I got a new monitor today and I'm trying to change the resolution to 1920x1080 but I can't do that.
I have tried: changing the resolution through
xrandr
But I get the following error
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768 default connected primary 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 76.00*
I have also tried to get to the boot menu and see if I have the option to run Ubuntu in not safe graphics mode but I've had no luck with that.
I have also tried the approach in this post but it doesn't work either.
EDIT: I followed enter link description here and while my resolution is still not 1920x1080, it's 1400x900, it's much better than it was at least, so that works for me.
EDIT 2: The issue was with my cable, when I used HDMI instead of VGA, it was automatically set to 1920x1080.
