FYI: On devices with low RAM (*which I consider any device with less than 5GB of RAM*) the first important thing to consider is what you'll do with the machine, and thus what apps you'll require. That way you know what *libraries* and *toolkits* you'll need in RAM, then you can select a DESKTOP/WM that shares those resources rather than wasting RAM by having a DE & apps that can't share! You gave no such details. Out of the box Lubuntu (LXQt & Qt5) is *lightest*, second is Xubuntu (XFCE & GTK3) but the apps you'll use will dictate *lightest* when used as who uses a system out-of-the-box! – guiverc Aug 05 '23 at 07:18
