I am currently investigating Canonical's snap and deciding whether or not I will use it as default package manager.

The benefit I clearly see is that it sometimes offers more recent versions of some apps.

Are there any other benefits of using snap instead of apt? This is practical question and not to waste your time.

Currently, most material I found is about hype without rationale. Thanks.

Yes, here is similar question:

Why do snap-packages exist - is there a real need?

In my opinion that question is very wordy and does not convey the main question:

What benefits(deciding factor) snap will give one to consider switching?.

So one might think that my question is more relevant.

I don't think there is a much shorter yet suitably accurate rationale than in the answer to the linked question. The list of benefits and drawbacks consists of 4 bullet points none exceeding 30 words. Unless you can provide a better explanation *what else* you seek I'm voting to keep this question closed. – David Foerster Dec 25 '16 at 11:27
