Windows Photo Viewer Disappeared from my applications

Question

Windows Photo Viewer disappeared from my applications list, or from the Open With menu. All along it was there, even though it was not my default photo viewer for any format. I just noticed yesterday that it was missing. I have gone under C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Viewer and this is what I found:

I am running Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607, Build 14393.187).

PS: Its not a duplicate of How to bring back Photo Viewer in Windows 10?. I tried all the solutions here, and they didn't work

The application you are asking about, as always been a DLL, hence its Photoviewer.dll. **Which is in your screenshot.**. I am running Windows 10, and I have access to a virtual machine with each major build, I have confirmed the instructions to enable Windows Photo Viewer do indeed work on all versions of Windows. — Ramhound, Sep 21 '16 at 19:22

[Same as you did for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10](http://i.stack.imgur.com/II7RM.jpg) you perform the required steps outlined, then find the application in "other options". — Ramhound, Sep 21 '16 at 20:19

So I used option 2, from this [tutorial](http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14312-windows-photo-viewer-restore-windows-10-a.html), which is linked in an answer to the duplicate question and it worked for me.. Using Windows 10 Build 14393.187 same as you. You applied the .reg file and the used open with on an image, cause again, it works for me. So...provide a screenshot of what you do see — Ramhound, Sep 22 '16 at 01:01

This worked for me. This script: Restore "Windows Photo Viewer" Functionality in Windows 10

For good measure you can delete the useless slow Photos app with powershell command:

Get-AppxPackage *photos* | Remove-AppxPackage (Seriously Microsoft, did you do any UX testing on this crap? Fewer animations and more functionality please)
