I use Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 in windows 8.1.

Recently, I noticed that if I click on the Data Analysis Toolpak in Excel 2013, it doesn't LOAD the dialog box with the list of standard statistical operations, such as ANOVA, Regression, etc.

I need to make it clear, in my case, the Data Analysis Toolpak is visible under Data Tab, along with the Solver Add-in.

Also, Excel Toolpak and Excel VBA Toolpak are available on the list of Active Add-ins in Options---> Add-ins.

And, solver add-in is loading normally but not the excel toolpak add-in, once I click it.

Also, I even tried to deselect the Excel Toolpak from the list of active add-ins and again reactivated it later.

And finally, what I noticed is that the above issue happens when I open excel by typing excel in the Start---> Run window.

But, if I click the desktop icon of Excel 2013, then, the Analysis Toolpak and Solver loads normally, if I click on them.

So, why this difference in opening the Excel Toolpak Add-in for the same software, when loaded in a different manner?

  • Can your computer reverse the screen and switch to tablet mode? I do not know whether opening Excel from the metro interface would be considered as being in tablet mode, and run apps in energy saving mode. – Emily May 07 '21 at 09:48
  • The fact that the add-in doesn't load does sound like a compatibility issue. Perhaps 32 vs 64 bit or Office 2013 not being compatible with Windows 8. Make sure your windows and office has all service packs and updates installed. As for why it works from the desktop... check if there is a path difference between the two executables. Right-click the desktop icon, and open properties. Check the source path. Also check the compatibility settings specified there (i.e. run as windows xp). You actually may have two different excel versions (say 32 vs 64 bit) installed. The source path will tell... – ExcelEverything May 07 '21 at 15:13
