How to reproduce (in linux):

  • Open a browser eg. firefox or chrome to a webpage eg. mastodon social.
  • Close your monitor and get back after an hour (or less).
  • Returning back, I may need more than 10 minutes to use the system, even i cant use mouse, its pointer is moving only some milimiters in my monitor.

What I have done:

  • I learnt about autosuspend - I turned it off for all my devices (I could not for audio codecs)
  • This fixed the problem that I had - the same behavior with above when no browser left open (near-halting system after returning back after some time).

I wonder:

  • What other type of "autosuspend" can be in place in order to fix such behaviour?
  • It is a bad programming from browsers? Then why Linux system is left unprotected to such behaviour with resulting a near-halting system?
  • my system is not a high-end one, but when i actively using it, no such problem exist ( i can move mouse pointer freely - in most cases.

I wonder no2: It is a thing of inherit "autosuspend" behaviour for ecological reasons of:

  • Linux, CPU, memory, graphic card? If yes, what I can do?
  • How I can find what is the problem when I have a near-halting system?
