'ENG' icon suddenly appeared

not listed in the registry

Windows 11.

I'm using Korean IME, which has both Korean and English keyboards. So I use a special Korean keyboard that has a language toggle button. (registry data is 00000412)

But suddenly, I see an 'ENG' icon on the taskbar and I can't get rid of it. It's not listed in the registry 'Preload' folder at HKEY_USERS. It's not listed in the Language & Region in the Windows settings either.

What can I do to remove this permanently?

  • 안녕 https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/surface/remove-unwanted-keyboard-or-language-from-windows-11-883fbe1c-fcf8-44bc-ba42-a834f486c058 in the section "Unwanted language or keyboard is still in the input switcher". Yes this is a workaround for the stupidest bug ever. Yes this is official Microsoft documentation telling you that they are too lazy to fix the bug. – Gantendo Aug 15 '23 at 08:52
