- Start the Chrome/Chromium browser
- Navigate to "chrome://flags"
- Find the entry "Save Page as MHTML"
- Click "enable"
- Restart your browser
- That's it, now the web pages will be saved by default as MHTML
In Google Chrome Version 43.0.2357.130 m

The flag is gone from Chrome. However adding a `--save-page-as-mhtml` command line argument still works! – Michel de Ruiter Jun 24 '19 at 12:29
