Since Canonical forces us to use the "snap" version of Firefox in the latest version of Ubuntu, I am using Firefox snap on an x86_64 and an aarch64 Ubuntu 23.04 machine.

The latest upgraded Firefox snap version,

  • on my x86_64 machine is currently at 116.0.2-1 (snap Rev. 2987),
  • while on my aarch64 machine is still at 115.0.2-1 (snap Rev. 2918).

This fact can also be verified at https://snapcraft.io/firefox.

Why?

  • I see that `116.0.3-2` is the candidate for both archs (and published today for both), so could it be that `116.0.x` series has been buggy on ARM, so they're not promoting it to stable yet? – muru Aug 16 '23 at 14:51
  • And there it is: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1480719/firefox-116-fails-to-start-on-ubuntu-22-04-arm64-rpi4-after-a-snap-refresh – muru Aug 16 '23 at 14:52
  • Thanks @muru ... – FedKad Aug 16 '23 at 15:13
  • After FF version 117.0-2 was released today (?), now the latest snap version is available on both platforms. – FedKad Aug 29 '23 at 15:36
