Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is a standard developed by HP, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix and Toshiba for configuration and power management computer. ACPI has a proposal to supplant the APM(Advanced Power Management), while the former puts the operating system to control power management, APM uses the BIOS for this. The implementation of ACPI depends not only software, but hardware support.
