Questions tagged [virtualbox]

VirtualBox is a platform-independent open-source virtualization software available for Linux, OS X, Solaris and Windows hosts. Guest additions need to be installed to automatically adjust the guest screen resolution. USB is supported through a proprietary extension.

VirtualBox (VB) is a free and open-source software that provides a virtual machine (VM) for a variety of guest operating systems. Detailed installation instructions can be found in the VirtualBox User Manual. VB, by default, saves its VM in the VirtualBox image (VBI, file extension: .vdi) file format. The software is currently owned by Oracle.

For USB and RDP support, a non-open source (licensed under PUEL) extension pack needs to be installed.
