Hotkey to Mute Mic on Mac OS X?

Is there a hotkey I can use or configure to mute the mic on a 13" MacBook Pro (MPB)? I would prefer an icon or notification to confirm that it is set (even if I need to toggle the option).

I keep accidentally muting my sound while playing a game, and I'm not sure how. Is there a shortcut I might be unknowingly executing? I'm certainly not using the windows key as I play.

I'm using a Mac. Is there a keyboard shortcut for muting the mic during a call? I can't find one, and I often need to toggle mute/unmute. Clicking the button on the Skype interface is very inconvenient :(
